No tracheostomy or g-tube today
Dr. Kerschner wasn't able to fit 14 different tracheostomy tubes into Alexandar's trachea. They made the incisions, but weren't able to complete the procedure. Apparently his trachea is very, very short. Also, Dr. Kerschner decided to not insert a g-tube today. Alexandar remains intubated through his nose. The plan is to let Alexandar heal from the incisions and they'll go back for another bronchoscopy next Friday. Dr. Kerschner did see a reduction in granulation tissue around his trachea - a very good thing that could lead to extubation, possibly within the next few weeks. Kerschner remains "cautiously optimistic" even though Alexandar is "in a very tenuous spot". So again we wait, hope, pray, and find distraction. Thank you everyone for your own thoughts and prayers. It sounds like they will continue to be needed for quite some time.
