Welcome to my home on the web, the site where I bring together all my digital-age doings. I'm generally interested in creating technology that makes life easier and sometimes I even write about it. I also comment here about programming, politics, family, and whatever other random topic I come across on this wild ride we call life. Check out my programming projects and tags.

Barcamp Milwaukee 2

BarCamp Milwaukee has been scheduled for October 13th and 14th. Just like last year (although they've since relocated), the weekend-long event will take place at Bucketworks in (where else) Milwaukee.

Check out the website (featuring OpenID support, thanks to Blake and his Drupal-fu) and sign up for a fun and educational experience. Better still, propose a session and share your knowledge. In all likelihood other participants will step up and add quality discussion.

That's part of the charm of BarCamp; it works best when everyone adds value by actively participating in the sessions. Even though one (or more) individual(s) lead a session, the "you all listen while I talk maybe followed by questions" model doesn't apply here.

I'll be the first to admit my first go at leading sessions earlier this year during BarCamp Madison were mostly me in front of the crowd yapping away about Django and (to a lesser extent) "Repurposing web data". But now with the experience of two BarCamps under my belt, I have a better feel for sessions that "worked" and I'll do my best to make the sessions more interactive and less about my take on the subject.
